Frequently asked questions
help_outline Do I need a physician’s referral/prescription for physical therapy or acupuncture?
You do not need a physician referral to receive acupuncture treatment. Patients can access physical therapy services without a physician referral through a process known as “direct access.” Direct access allows patients to be seen for the initial evaluation and then treated for up to 10 visits or 30 calendar days without a prescription. After this period, a prescription from a physician is necessary for continued treatment.
help_outline What are the options for payment?
We are strictly an out-of-network provider, and payment is expected at the time services are rendered. We do not participate in Medicare. Accepted payment methods include cash, check, and credit cards. Services may be covered by your Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA). As a courtesy, we will submit your claims electronically to your health insurance carrier for potential reimbursement, but we do not guarantee reimbursement.
help_outline What should I expect on my first visit?
For your initial consultation and treatment, please arrive at least 15 minutes early to complete necessary paperwork. The first visit includes a comprehensive physical examination covering medical history, postural assessment, neurological screening, and other tests, which inform your prognosis and treatment plan.
help_outline What types of interventions may I receive?
Interventions depend on your evaluation results and may include manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and functional training. Other treatments can involve electrical stimulation, laser therapy, ultrasound, ergonomic analysis, and coordination with other health care professionals.
help_outline How long will my visit last?
The initial evaluation and treatment typically last around 60 minutes. Follow-up appointments vary by injury complexity, usually lasting between 45-60 minutes.
help_outline What should I wear?
Please wear loose-fitting or athletic clothing that allows for movement. For injuries to the hip, knee, ankle, or foot, shorts or loose pants are recommended. For shoulder issues, female patients should wear a tank top or a short-sleeved shirt.
help_outline What other office policies should I be aware of?
Cameron Gomez Physical Therapy & Acupuncture has a 24-hour cancellation policy. Please notify us 24-48 hours in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule. If you're running late, call our office to see if you can still receive your treatment.
